LanGaurdian Configuration Question
I've installed LanGuardian but am getting nothing but basic results. How do I fine tune to get more data.
-
Can you provide some more information on the traffic that the LANGuardian is currently seeing.
Please run the following report
Bandwidth -> IP -> Traffic Distribution
Can you see both TCP and UDP traffic in this report?
Have you installed the LANGuardian software on a physical server or a virtual platform? -

Hi there. What sort of activity are you currently picking up and what type of data are you hoping to get from the system?

First thanks for the responses!
Micheal - I ran the report and I see only UDP and IgMP traffic
Darragh - I'm getting very basic data, top data by IP, but I'm looking for data like (as an example) Top Websites etc - which all appear with no data. the server has been running since Thursday.
Thanks in advance;

Hi Bob,
Its sounds like we are not getting packets though from your network switch(es). What type of switch did you connect the LANGuardian to?
This link shows how to configure SPAN or port mirroring on the most popular switches.

Hi Darragh;
Thanks for your help!
It turns out when running on VMWare, you need to enable Promiscuous Mode in order to see TCP traffic - it was only showing UDP traffic.
Cheers and thanks!
