What’s the span command for trying to monitor all ports on a switch except port 40?

Tried the two below with no luck

monitor session 1 source interface GigabitEthernet0/1 - 0/39 , 0/41 - 0/44
monitor session 1 destination interface GigabitEthernet0/40

monitor session 1 source interface GigabitEthernet0/1 - GigabitEthernet0/39 , GigabitEthernet0/41 - GigabitEthernet0/44
monitor session 1 destination interface GigabitEthernet0/40

The correct syntax for the monitor source is

monitor session 1 source interface GigabitEthernet 0/1 – 39 , GigabitEthernet 0/41 - 44 both

Remember you also need to specify a destination and you can do this by issuing the command

monitor session 1 destination interface GigabitEthernet 0/40
