Changing a Central Manager into a probe is normally achieved from the rescue account CLI.
The rescue account CLI is not accessible from ssh (because we added a restriction).

LANGuardian 12.4.5 has a new feature which allows access to rescue account from ssh (we have removed the restriction from the rescue account). So, by accessing GUI to set rescue account password and then ssh'ing to the rescue account, the Administrator can change the system to probe mode.

The following example explains how to modify a standalone Central Manger LANGuardian system as a probe, that you do not have console access to (no iLO for example):
  • x.x.x.x and y.y.y.y are both standalone Central Manager systems (the intention is to change y.y.y.y to probe mode.)
  • Ensure that LANGuardian version 12.4.5 is running on both Central Manager systems before moving ahead.
  • Log on to LANGuardian and enter this address in your web browser https://y.y.y.y
  • Set the password for the rescue account  https://y.y.y.y/sysadm/rescuepass.cgi then connect to the management IP address of the LANGuardian on 22 (ssh). Logon using the rescue account and with the password.
  • Switch to probe mode - follow instructions on page 52 of the LANGuardian Administration and User Guide.
  • You are now ready to add a new probe/remote sensor to LANGuardian https://x.x.x.x/sensor/sensor.cgi?add=1
