We’re often asked about importing data from LANGuardian into Excel spreadsheets, so that the data can be further analysed, processed and presented; say generate different pie charts or sum different traffic or events.

The standard way to do this is to run a report using the web GUI and then use the ‘Export to CSV file’ option.

The CSV file can then be imported into the Excel spreadsheet and worked upon

If you want to perform the same actions on a daily or weekly basis, this can be a bit time consuming.

However, we can make use of the LANGuardian REST interface
and Excel’s ‘import data from web’ tool.

The following video describes the technique for automatically importing data in Excel

https://www.youtube.com/netfortbeta#p/...

The video is hosted on our YouTube Netfort Technologies Beta channel
which features upcoming product developments and ideas.

The feature shown here is not in the product code yet, but will be
available in an upcoming release.

Let us know if this looks useful.

How could we extend it to make exporting data more useful for you?
