LANGuardian 11.7 is an update release that includes several new features, performance enhancements, and bug fixes. We recommend that customers update their LANGuardian installations to version 11.7 as soon as convenient.

New features

LANGuardian 11.7 includes the following new features:

  • Default database archiving behavior has been changed. In previous versions of LANGuardian, the default was to archive older sections of the traffic database, but now the default is not to archive this data. We have made this change because archiving the traffic database is a resource-intensive activity that affects performance, yet many of our users have told us they do not need to archive traffic data. Changing the default behavior will improve performance for these users. Users who need to archive traffic data can change the default database archiving behavior by following these steps:

  1. Click the settings icon in the LANGuardian menu bar and select Configuration.

  2. On the Configuration page, scroll down to the section on Archives. Click Export a LANGuardian database archive.

  3. LANGuardian displays the Download DB Archive page.

  4. Available options are Do not archive, Archive locally, and Automatic archive export. Choose the option you want and click Save.

See the LANGuardian Administration and User Guide for more information about LANGuardian database archiving.

  • LANGuardian now detects BitTorrent peer exchange (PeX) events, which aides detection of BitTorrent peers even if they attempt to hide Announce requests.

  • This version of LANGuardian demonstrates reduced CPU utilization and increased performance of the the traffic analysis engine when reading data packets.

  • LANGuardian now includes support for HP Smart Array RAID controllers

  • Feedback during the data validation phase of LANGuardian installation has been improved.

Bug fixes
The following bugs have been fixed:

  • Inability to set the rescue account password via the LANGuardian web interface.

  • SPAN status incorrectly shown as red (not monitoring) even when the interface is connected to a SPAN port.

  • Users without Administrator privileges unable to use the LANGuardian search page.
