Recently, one of our customers contacted us with a list of all servers on their network running SSL services. They were concerned that not all SSL servers were listed in their Inventory :: Servers Running SSL report.

LANGuardian implements Local Subnets to include the traffic you want LANGuardian to monitor.
The steps involved in setting up a Local Subnet filter are follows:

1. Go to the LANGuardian Sensors page.

2. Click the Settings link for the sensor you want to modify.

3. Click Edit Sensor Settings.

4. Find the setting Local Subnets.

5. Specify a subnet (see some examples in our tip sheet).

6. Click Save.

The Inventory :: Servers Running SSL report is looking for certificates in Local Subnets. The customer was using the default Local Subnets setting (10.0.0.0/8,192.168.0.0/16,172.16.0.0/12). A review confirmed what subnets the customer was using, and they will now update the list accordingly.

Please contact us if you would like to know more about configuring the default 'Local Subnets' setting that the LANGuardian sensor will monitor.

As always, if you have questions about any aspect of LANGuardian, please contact us on support@netfort.com anytime.
