Providing assistance in case of hardware issues during installation

LANGuardian has an ability during the installation process to create a secure tunnel back to NetFort. 

This remote support is very useful if you require assistance in the case of hardware issues during installation. 

The first step is to download the latest ISO from www.netfort.com and burn this image onto a USB key. The steps to do this and to create a LANGuardian USB install media can be found here.

When you have created the USB key with the ISO, insert it and boot from USB.

To begin, type in "YES" at the initial LANGuardian Setup page:




Next you will prompted to select an installation disk. At this stage you should type the word "other" instead of making a disk selection:



After you have entered "other" you will see an ‘error’ but simply hit Enter to proceed:




You will now need to identify and select the NIC which will be assigned to the user interface and provide IP information i.e. the LANGuardian computer IP address, network mask, default gateway and DNS server.





You will now see the LANGuardian Remote Support screen where you will enter a NetFort remote-support id, which will be provided by NetFort. If you haven’t been given a unique Support ID please get in touch with support to provide one for you. In the example below, we provided 8742.




If you see the message ‘Connection established’ you have successfully enabled the tunnel from your LANGuardian and there’s nothing else to do but advise NetFort Support who will now be able to investigate. 

If you see a message that the Connection could not be established, revisit the NIC selection and/or the IP addressing information.
