Can someone tell me what remote sensors can be configured under Sensors --> Add --> Remote ? I'm hoping this could be something that could be run on our existing Linux based routers without needing to install something within a VM.
This option will allow you create a sensor on a separate slave LANGuardian unit which will record and analyze traffic on that system and returns the data to be stored on the Central Manager unit. I am afraid this needs to be a dedicated piece of hardware or installed on a VMWare platform.
However one possible solution which may allow you visibility into the traffic on your Linux based routers is to use a simple package called sflp which can be found at
This SFlow agent can be used to sample traffic passing through a physical interface on your router and then packaging it into an SFlow compatible format which can be directed towards an SFlow sensor on the LANGuardian unit. On the LANGuardian this traffic will be processed as an SFlow stream.
I have successfully used this as a testbed for test of our SFlow sensors so it should give you good visabily into activity on the router.
